The Curriculum Project of Thabyay Education Foundation, in collaboration with the Karen Refugees Committee Education Entity, had delivered a one day training on the 14th of May 2015 for 8 post-10 schools. This training took place in Thay Bay Hta, Karen State, focusing on Teaching Skills and Methodologies as requested by KRCEE.
A total of 30 teachers from 6 Karen administered refugee camps and one school from Karen State had joined the training (see table below). Attendees were a mixture of new and experience teachers. Out of 30 teachers, 8 were new teachers where as the other 22 teachers were existing teachers. Approximately 689 students were served by these teachers.
The majority of teachers who attended this training were experienced teachers so many of them have practiced the teaching skills and methods from this training in their classroom already. Although this training mainly would be helpful for new teachers, this training brought a good chance to all teachers from all over the camps to meet and share their teaching experiences from each other. New teachers had gained and learnt not from trainers but from experienced teachers as well. An ongoing observation and support for new teachers would be essential to help them to apply skills learned in this training to their classrooms.

Thabyay Education Foundation's Curriculum Project also delivered a 5-day teacher training on the 25th- 29th of May 2015, covering two topics ‘Teaching Methodology and Trainers’ Skills’.
The 5 days teacher training was organized by the Karen Teacher Working Group for their Mobile Teacher Training (MTT) program in Khoe Kay, an IDP area in Karen State. Two core topics covered were requested by KTWG itself to help equip the training skills and qualities of the mobile trainers just before they visit schools in remote villages in Karen State. Two CP staff had facilitated in the training and had used local context training methodologies and skills to meet the attendees’ needs.
