Thabyay Education Foundation’s Scholarship and Student Support Office seeks to bridge the foundation with the community by engaging in ongoing outreach efforts including those with area residents, migrant communities and local area schools.
U Soe Lay, program manager of our scholarship and student support office, visited the Pre-collegiate School last week and conducted a presentation on scholarship opportunities. It was done as part of Thabyay’s outreach program to bridge the information gap for local students who are interested in studying abroad.
The Curriculum Project of Thabyay Education Foundation delivered a Strategies for Assessing Student Progress training/workshop on the 11th-12th of October in Mae Sot. The training topic was chosen based on the majority request of teachers through the training needs assessment CP had done. Nineteen teachers from nine Mae Sot migrant high schools and post-secondary schools/programs attended the training.
Thabyay welcomes 15 new students for the 13th intake of University Preparation Program at Kant Kaw Education Center. The new student orientation sessions were held on Friday, September 19, 2015. “This is one of the most ethnically diverse classes,” said Zin Mar Oo, Director of Programs at KKEC. “We have students who came from as far away as Kachin and northern Shan States. We have Naga, Chin, Kachin, Karen, Mon, Rakhine and Burman. They all are eager to learn, and we are prepared to provide them the best possible education and preparation for their next stage of life.” Read more...
Empowering Civil Society Leaders
September 1, 2014 - Through the Experiential Learning Program, Thabyay Education Foundation annually organizes a regional internship program for leaders of civil society organizations in Myanmar to share and learn from the experiences of their counterparts in Asia region. The internship program provides opportunities for Myanmar CSO/CBO leaders to share their expertise with colleagues in their host organization and, at the same time, learn from their different approaches to tackling some of the issues their organizations face. September 15, 2014 - U Soe Lay, Program Manager of the Scholarship and Student Support department at Thabyay Education Foundation held a study abroad information session for students at Paung Daw Oo monastic school in Mandalay. Similar counseling sessions were held last month in Pa-an with Education Gathering Group (EGG), where more than 50 students attended. The next ones will be in Pathein and Yangon.
